It’s time to TRASH your Excuses
Have you ever felt like you are the only obstacle standing between you and your dreams?
Most often than not we are our own WORST enemy.
On one hand we want to be successful, but on the other hand we are sabotaging ourselves.
We limit ourselves so much because we forget about our unlimited resources and capabilities to make things happen.
Here’s an example:
“I can’t afford this.”
My favorite excuse ever.
Challenge your beliefs. Is this true?
- Look back in your past: When have you not had the money to make something happen – yet you did it anyway?
- When you want something, you can be unreasonable and figure out a way.
Let me share with you the perfect example.
I recently got an email from a former attendee of one of my Born2Succeed personal development conferences. His story impressed me so much that I simply had to share it.
“My story began 6 years ago in the amphitheatre (Aula Magna) of my business school: the Academy of Economic Studies. Irina Alionte was on-stage presenting her upcoming Born2Succeed conference and the entry ticket was 100 euros. I was together with the girl in the image, I looked into my wallet and all the money I had was 10 euros. We both looked at each other and wondered: what can we do about this, so that we can afford the entry ticket?
We had nothing to sell, so we decided to sell our story. We started to knock on every single door on our student campus accommodation halls, sharing what we want to do. By the time we reached the ground level, we had already gathered all the money we needed. We were extremely surprised to find out the other students didn’t ask for anything in return, they were simply willing to donate to support our attendance to the conference.
I felt obliged to take the contact details of all the persons that helped us so that I can repay them in a way or the other, further down the line.
2 years after the Born2Succeed Conference I started my first business and I had success – even if I was still in the beginning. I reached out to all the people that have helped me on that day (complete strangers, people that I only saw once in my life). I was extremely surprised to see that the majority of them ended up becoming my clients. I found a way to reward each and every single one of them with my services.
When someone asks me how I managed to build my business, all I am telling them is: I started with only 10 euros, a huge desire to learn and mentors that opened up my mind to all the possibilities.”
Laurentiu and his friend ROCK. Period. They found a way and made it happen – a key trait of all successful entrepreneurs.
So when you’re saying:
…. I CAN’T afford this
what you actually mean is…
….“I WON’T afford this, because I don’t want it really badly.”
Here’s the truth:
- You don’t need to have any resources, all you need is to be RESOURCEFUL.
- We all know people who’ve created amazing results, despite struggling circumstances.
- Don’t let the scarcity mindset kill your buzz.
- We live in a world of abundance. You can access the people and the resources you need to make ANY of your dreams come true.
- Decide that you’ll either FIND a way or MAKE a way.
And do this with all your excuses…
TRASH them.
I am not good enough.I am too young/ too oldI am too inexperienced.I still need to learn.I don’t have what it takes yetI don’t know where to start from.I don’t have the money.
Write down on paper ALL your excuses and limiting beliefs. And RIP IT OFF.
That’s not who you really are. That’s only who you THINK you are. Choose wisely.
And to keep you going…
- Realise that the negative self-talk is NOT the real you.
- Don’t try to resist your inner chatter. The more you resist it, the louder it becomes.
- Whenever an excuse crosses your mind, tell your inner voice:
“Thank you for sharing. Still – I’ll be unreasonable and do it my way.”
Because YOU are Born2Succeed.
